Description
This is one of many scenes that can be found in Bodie, CA. Bodie is the largest preserved ghost town in the country and is a CA state park. There are about 100 buildings still standing in a "state of arrested decay" along with assorted rusted and busted vehicles. It's an amazing place with years and years of dust. A massive fire in 1892 destroyed most of the town.

Hi Sherry. Thanks for the kind comments. This technique is one of the main reasons I took this workshop. It's called Light Painting. You do a 20 or 30 second exposure for the stars in the Milky Way. Then for a very short period of time, you light your subject with a flashlight ... "painting it". It took me a bit of trial and error. But once you get a good shot, you can adjust others photos to get similar results. Jeff Sullivan does a great photography workshop in Bodie and others in California. I checked out your website. Love the flag pictures. I've done some flag stuff too but not with the people. Very nice. I like the southern porch with the rockers. The blue heron is cool too.
